Rock the docs
Posted on Monday, April 21, 2008

Here's a short list of trendy documentaries coming out this Spring/Summer.

Young@Heart

When I saw this docu's trailer for the first time, I knew it was gonna be a mega-hit charmer. If you're a movie critic who diminished this choral's aged efforts, then you're nothing but a heartless prick. Fortunately, the guilt was not the only thing that provoked these egotistical critics to give this movie nothing less than a B. Director, Stephen Walker, and this group of senior citizens, exhibited such chemistry, enlightenment, and overflowing charisma to make this documentary a surefire box-office killer.

Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?

You know it's a must-watch when Morgan Spurlock--the annoyingly mustached genius behind Super Size me and 30 Days--embarks on an adventure in the Middle East on a mission to capture the most evasive evil fatman on earth, Osama Bin Laden.

Girls Rock!

Now this one's for all those Jonas Brothers fanatics who feel like there's nothing else more important in the world than those puberty-hitting chiquitos. Girls Rock! is a movie documenting a summer camp of 8 to 18 year olds who would receive music lessons and life empowerment from feminist indie rockers. This is a re-release for whatever reason, and as a feminist (who also happen to ADORE indie rock), I'm glad that there's now a second chance out there for moms and daughters to see this one heck of a docu.

American Teen

American Teen exposes the stories of each given stereotype there is in this fun, wicked, and vicious temptation island that we all call high school. From the rebels to the heartthrobs, the film covers their everyday adventures that would also include lecture naps, hook-ups, and the tall grasses of Indiana. The state, to begin with, is not the most interesting place to get high schoolers to film a movie. But with the looks of the very enticing trailer, I think we'd be in a Laguna Beach-esque rollercoaster, except with this one, it's completely real. Or so I hope.

Target Lifestyle
Posted on Monday, April 7, 2008

The most recent reason for this wrecked heart and overflowing tears is a man's admission of the inevitable temptation---tall, young, sexy, dancing queen. Simple translation: everything I'm not. It's always a scary situation to be emotionally entangled with a particular someone in this very poisonous society, especially when everything between the two of you is completely loose and vague. Maybe I was expecting this to be the turnaround of what I used to call my "target lifestyle," which is basically the single mom who runs errands from office to daycare in a busy city such as NYC. But, fuck that. Boys will never be 100% faithful and men will never be %100 man enough to admit it. As I spent quality time with Eva this afternoon, I have come to realize that my target lifestyle should stay as is. I've decided that I don't need a guy's opinion to make good decisions, a guy's lazy butt to splurge in my money, and most of all, a guy who would slobber my baby with yucky kisses all over.

If my baby turns out to be this cute then I just need a good-looking sperm and I'm good.

T.M.T.H.
Posted on

That has got to be tiring. Checking back on Kai's page, time and time again, only to see the same entry she has posted a couple of centuries ago. Not to mention, the very lame blogger default layout. Friends, trust me, it's just as frustrating, or even more, to be wanting to blog all this time and yet being severely short of time to do so. My life as of late has only been composed of two things: books and babies. It hasn't been easy juggling the two on a day to day basis but I've been surviving. Surviving well enough to blog again. And I truly hope I am back for good.

There really isn't much to share at this point. Besides the fact that I've been quite depressed today. For some inexplicetable reason, I just started to feel so down. I have been banging my head on the wall the past couple of nights because of some complicated instructions my self-proclaimed evil professor provided me for this stupid history paper. And things are finally taking its worthy toll on me. Maybe that's why. Or maybe because Rafa lost in Miami today. Or maybe because I had a McSkillet burrito this morning that I feel so guilty about. Or maybe because the Mavs are sucking this year. Or maybe because I went to Neiman Marcus today to exchange my Dior sunglasses for a cheaper Versace one (I'm so poor I needed all the credit I can get back). Or maybe simply because I'm in my post-menstrual state.

Some of y'all are really lucky. The past five months of your life may have been the exact same life you've been living for an extended amount of time. Me? The past five months have been excruciating! From pooping babies to being in great debt, to my car being always thirsty of fucking expensive gas, to the evil fat history professor, to my best friend at work going back to San Diego, and to getting my delusional heart broken. It's been one heck of a hiatus, y'all! And trust me, I would trade any day of that stretch to have been able to talk to you again. My life recently has just been T.M.T.H., and it kinda sucks to learn that this is the harsh reality of being an adult.

Oh yes, I'm already growing up! Can you fuckin' believe it?
